What I Hear
New York City is known for its loud busy street and overcrowded sidewalks. New Yorkers often don’t take the time to listen to what is around us because we are too busy texting, listening to music, or racing off to our next destination. I decided to walk around one of the busiest areas of New York, Times Square, and listen to the noises around me. At 5 p.m. on a Friday afternoon, I finally took the time to listen to something other than my iPod, New York. I immediately noticed how busy this neighborhood sounds. I heard a bunch of people rushing by me talking in different languages and accents and it made me how people from all around the world travel great lengths just to visit this wonderful city. In the background, I heard the sound that I’ve grown numb to, the sound of cars honking about every few seconds.
