Museum of Moving Images

Visiting the Museum of Moving Images was an amazing experience. This museum quickly became my favorites due to the number of interactive exhibits that they had. During the tour, we were able to look at a lot of things that we spoke about in class in more detail. Some of the things mentioned were flipbooks, sounds, music, and the different type of cameras. During this trip, I learned a lot about special effects. Seeing some of the props from movies I’ve watched plenty of times helped me understand what went into filming and editing the movie. My favorite part of the trip was when we could walk through the Jim Henson exhibit. Interning at Sesame Street gave me a whole new perspective on Muppets and what goes into filming them. I was able to look at all of Jim Henson’s work and even see some familiar faces from Sesame Street. I also had the knowledge to answer some questions about the Muppets and the filming process for some fellow classmates. My favorite part of the museum is when we could make our own Muppet show. It gave me an insight into how hard it really is to be a puppeteer. Walking through and interacting with this exhibit helped me learn more about the place I intern at. Another amazing part of our trip was when our tour guide showed us how the sound effects on a movie really change the way we view it. We were able to choose different sound effects for an action movie and made it into a comedy. It’s truly incredible how one sound effect can change an entire movie. This trip to the MOMI was extraordinary. Since I intern only a few steps away, I will be sure to come back to the museum soon.
